Cherry Valley Cub Scout Camp at Two Harbors, Catalina-- Pack 4 Pasadena - Altadena, August 2022
The kids and parents in our pack who attended Cherry Valley this year had a BLAST for four days. We also had the opportunity to band together with two other local packs and act a Den at Cherry Valley while we were there, which was really fun.
Cherry Valley is a BSA camp located near Two Harbors on Catalina. Bears and Webelos get to go to this overnight camp, and our kids want to go back! When they are Scouts, they get to go for a week. And when they are older Scouts, then can volunteer to work at the camp when the Cubs are there. It's really cool to see all the leadership and mentorship opportunities available to the kids.
We hiked, snorkeled, learned about local sea life with oceanography lessons, did woodcrafts and handiwork, BB guns, archery, fished off the pier, kayaked, had fun at the nightly fire, participated in daily flag ceremonies, and much more.
Here are pictures. There was no way to capture it all. We observed a Flag Retirement ceremony one evening at the campfire that brought tears to my eyes, it was so beautiful and meaningful. The man who led the ceremony was incredible.
